Kit Foxes
We are in the swing of things in our class. These delightful, bright students are a joy to teach. Shortly after school began, we were joined by a wonderful new student, Jial Wood. Welcome, Jial! Thanks to parents and families for your continued support in all our requests, especially the use of the drive-thru drop-off which has been a smashing success. Just to reiterate a few of those requests, and a few more:

- Our program begins at 8:45. Please try to have your child here before that time so that he/she has time to settle in and join us.

– Please dress children in weather-appropriate clothing, expecting the unexpected (as is often the case here in SF!). We do request that all children have coats/sweaters and, starting shortly, winter hats.

- Help us by sending your children in shoes that they can put on/take off easily by themselves. We ask that laced shoes be sent for children 4.5 and up only.

- We are eating two morning snacks (the kids are always hungry!) Also, please no squeezy yogurts or candy. In class we’ve already been working very hard, with effort put forth by each and every one of the children.

Of course, we’ve had our share of challenges as is natural in the beginning of the year which we are working on within the classroom. Meanwhile, our academics are igniting like wildfire. In language, we are working on pre-writing, phonics to basic reading skills. We are also learning numbers and how to count, studying the life cycle of the horse, and learning about the elements: land, water and air. Each week we also have music class with Mr. Rangel on Mondays and Spanish with Ms. Colleen on Wednesdays. Additionally Rayden’s mother, Amy, will be giving our kids yoga classes during the term. Whew! We will be sending your children’s completed work home in our beautiful, new homework bags. (Please return them the next day.)

Kit Fox Spanish:
My approach is inspired by a Montessori Spanish workshop I attended. Many of the songs we sing are from that program. We are off to a great start this year. We have been working
on greetings, the numbers 1-10, colors and parts of the face. We also have learned basic verbs caminar (walk), correr (run), saltar (jump), etc. I appreciate the kit foxes’ smiles and
really enjoy teaching my littlest ones. I will start an after-school Spanish program for preschool students Tuesday October 11th. I’m offering a camp on the teacher in-service days,
October 31st and November 1st. Sign-up on Art room door.
